After a mixed 2010 Super GT season dominated by the new Honda HSV-010 and the Lexus SC430, Nissan enters the 2011 Super GT season with four GT-R's.
As in 2010, battling for the championship in the Nissan camp will be the No.23 Motul AUTECH GT-R driven by Satoshi Motoyama and Benoit Treluyer, the No.24 Advan Kondo GT-R driven by new driver pairing of H. Yasuda and B. Wirdheim, the No.12 Calsonic IMPUL GT-R with Tsugio Matsuda and J.P.L. de Oliviera behind the wheel. New for 2011 is the No.46 S Road MOLA GT-R of M. Yanagida and R. Quintarelli.
The 2011 Super GT season comprises nine races scheduled from April 2rd to November 13th, 2011.
The season starts out with Round 1 in Okayama International Circuit on March April 3rd with the Okayama GT 300km, which due to the tsunami ctatstrophe in Japan has been postponed to May 22nd. Hence, the 400km race for Round 2 at Suzuka on April 30th was the first race of the season. Round 3 takes place at Sepang for the Super GT International Series Malaysia on June 19th. For Round 4, the series will go to Sportsland Sugo on July 30th for the Sugo GT 250km.
On August 20th, Round 5 will be held at Suzuka. After that, Round 6 in Fuji and Round 7 in Autopolis follow on September 11th and October 2nd, respectively. The last official round of the season takes place at Motegi on October 16th. After that, Fuji will be the venue of a special race on November 13th.
